Murphy’s Bush – tall native trees and great picnic spots

We have just added Murphy’s Bush to our GPS Map Collection so you can go and explore.  This is a majestic block of tall native trees including large Kahikatea, a giant Totara and wonderful Nikau groves.  Interspersed through this wonderful bush are three large picnic areas – great for setting up your blanket, playing games, exploring and  engaging in ball activities.  Some of the areas have picnic tables.

The tracks are generally in good condition and flat, with the occasional little hill.  There are a few stairs and wheelchair access is best achieved from a roadside entrance, rather than the main carpark.  The tracks are in reasonable repair with minimal mud, although I suspect that after heavy rain it could become quite muddy for some time.

There are toilet facilities by the main carpark.

This reserve would be ideal for short walks from 10 minutes up to about an hour if you wish to explore throughout the park.  It is ideal for people of any fitness level and fine for buggies and wheelchairs (although not from main carpark as previously mentioned).

About

I'm a family man who loves to enjoy the outdoors with my wife and 4 kids. I have spent years walking and running some of the wonderful tracks around Auckland and New Zealand .This website has been put together to help others enjoy the amazing array of walks we have in the Auckland Region. Further, we wish to honour the track-building work of my father-in-law, Hugh Willis who has spent thousands of hours since 1969 preserving, building and maintaining tracks on Auckland's North Shore.
